Itinerary

Day 1

Dinner

We travel to Auckland and board our 2 hour flight to Norfolk Island. At first, we wouldn't think about Norfolk's dark past but during our stay we discover all about the history of this peaceful island haven.

The archaeological remains of the penal colony now have UNESCO World Heritage status. We arrive at the South Pacific Hotel late afternoon for our stay.

Day 2

Breakfast, Dinner

This morning, we go on a guided Island Tour and learn about its fascinating history and culture. We visit Kingston, Cascade, Longridge and also hear about the beautiful beaches, golf courses, the Government, laws and lifestyle.

There is also time for a lovely cup of tea in the historic island home built by Fletcher Quintal - a descendant of Bounty mutineers Fletcher Christian and Matthew Quintal.

The afternoon is free to explore a little more. This evening, we go out to dinner at the lovely Dino’s at Bumboras.

Day 3

Breakfast, Dinner

This morning, we go to Fletcher’s Mutiny Cyclorama then for lunch, we can head back to the hotel or eat out in a local restaurant.

The afternoon is free or why not choose to go on one of the many optional tours. On Mondays, they include Christian’s 4WD Tour which goes through the national park and features spectacular scenery, native flora, bird life and private properties and also Christian’s Glass Bottom Boat with views of the wonderful coral gardens and tropical fish inside Norfolk’s lagoon.

If you book on either of these tours which start early morning, we can arrange for you to visit the Cyclorama on another suitable day.

Tonight, we enjoy a special experience as we dine in some of the islanders’ private homes with a Progressive Dinner.

Day 4

Breakfast, Dinner

A free day today to explore further or go on one of the optional tours on the island. This afternoon, it includes the Convict Settlement Tour. Walk through the cemetery hearing about the history of the convict and colonial headstones and the houses along Quality Row. See the ruins of the New Gaol, the Pier Store, the Boat Shed and the Crank Mill. Afternoon tea is included. Tonight after dinner, we’re entertained at the Sound and Light Show which brings a unique mood to the Convict Settlement.

Day 5

Breakfast, Dinner

An early start with the Breakfast Bush walk and Cliff Top Breakfast Barbecue. If you feel that you can't manage a leisurely 3.5km walk, we can arrange transport so that you can meet up with the group for breakfast. In the afternoon, we have a look around the island on the Island Cultural Tour.

This is a full immersion into the culture, cooking, weaving and language of the Norfolk Island settlers - convicts and descendants of the mutineers.

Afternoon tea is included. Tonight, is the very popular Fish Fry at the hotel.

Day 6

Breakfast, Dinner

This morning, we’re off on a tour to Anson Bay to visit a small hobby farm which contributed to improving the livestock industry on the Island. See a demonstration at Norfolk’s major pottery and browse at the Cottage Pottery shop. Morning tea is included at a scenic location and one more thing to mention is a visit to ‘Sweeties’ & learn how chocolate is made on Norfolk Island. We have a free afternoon when we can catch up on our Christmas shopping or simply put our feet up, read a book and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the island. This evening, we go to the famous ‘Mutiny on the Bounty Show’.

Day 7

Breakfast, Dinner

A free day today, however, there is the option to go on the Convict Settlement Tour today instead of Tuesday.

This evening, experience the fun and hilarity of the popular ‘Night as a Convict’ dinner - a must for any visitor to Norfolk Island. We all dress up as convicts (outfits supplied) and along with the Commandant, we are in for an evening of gaiety, feasting, singing and dancing. Great food! Great fun! Norfolk’s only dinner and dance night - not to be missed.

Day 8

Breakfast

We say goodbye to the South Pacific Hotel and Norfolk Island. Our flight departs late morning and we arrive in Auckland mid-afternoon. We hope you take home many happy memories from Norfolk Island.

The order of this itinerary may change to suit local arrangements.
