Wonderful waterfalls, colourful coral reefs and silky sand are just the beginning.
We make the most of exploring our surroundings on this French influenced Pacific paradise. We drive into the mountainous interior of Tahiti and see the volcanic crater, native fauna and waterfalls, then tour around the island taking in the many sights and places of interest.
In Moorea, we see all that this spectacular tropical island has to offer including a wonderful lagoon cruise. There is also time to spend perusing the local markets or simply enjoying the balmy Pacific breeze while relaxing by the pool.
Itinerary
Day 1
DinnerWe travel to Auckland to join our flight to the island paradise of Tahiti. We cross the International Date Line and arrive in Tahiti the day before. On arrival, we check-in to our hotel for the next 4 nights.
Day 2
Breakfast, DinnerThis morning, we go on a city tour of Papeete. The market, ‘Le Marche’, is open very early in the morning in case anyone wants to go for a wander around before our tour. We have a free afternoon so we can head back on our bus to the hotel and relax, while taking in the spectacular views of Moorea, or why not stay in Papeete a bit longer, and make your own way back in time for dinner.
Day 3
Breakfast, Lunch, DinnerToday, we go on a guided tour around Tahiti’s coastal road which includes stops at James Norman Hall’s Home, and the Museum of Tahiti and Her Islands, which will inform us all about Tahiti’s interesting history.
Day 4
Breakfast, Lunch, DinnerWe go on a Safari Expedition into Tahiti’s interior. A 4WD takes us into the mountainous interior, which is a very different world from the coastal road. We drive through the Papenoo Valley into Tahiti’s extinct volcanic crater stopping at various places of interest along the way.
Day 5
Breakfast, DinnerWe have a leisurely couple of hours before we take the late morning ferry to Moorea and our wonderful hotel overlooking the ocean. A free afternoon to relax, enjoy the sunshine, or go for a stroll to the local shops.
Day 6
Breakfast, Lunch, DinnerToday, we take the Royal Tour of this gorgeous island. This is an authentic all day Island tour, including many stops at places of interest.
Day 7
Breakfast, DinnerToday, we go on a lagoon discovery cruise. We take in breathtaking views of the spectacular mountains of Moorea, and enjoy a picnic lunch on a motu (islet) plus there’s time to feed the domesticated rays before we cruise back along the coast. Tonight, we go to a local restaurant and enjoy dinner while watching the sunset over the Pacific.
Day 8
Breakfast, DinnerA quiet day to relax. Enjoy the wonderful surroundings of the hotel, take a walk around the tropical garden or perhaps spend a day out exploring more of Moorea. Tonight, we watch a fantastic traditional Polynesian show and buffet.
Day 9
Breakfast, DinnerWe say goodbye to Moorea and board the ferry to Papeete then it’s a short drive to the airport to board our flight home. We arrive a day forward.
